The concept of RiMM was born over more than 10 years, and it was born as a philosophy for safety and security. First, the concept of a basic platform that realizes VR software in a short period of time was born to utilize the visual communication method that we focus on. The behavior logo in the upper left of the figure shows this concept. It is a concept of dividing RiMM basic software into blocks and combining them efficiently. It is a mechanism to prepare a group of function libraries (called behavior components) that reproduce human behavior and build software by freely trying and erroring those functions as if assembling blocks. The second is the concept of a development system that combines the block concept of behavior with system hardware, function libraries for drawing, and libraries for operating VR equipment with 3D data to build software in a short period of time and quickly visualize it. The two in the upper right of the figure are the concept of technology fusion to create new creations by combining image processing, microcomputer control technology, and interaction to create new added value. This concept was born in 2007. The cyclone concept shown in the upper right is the basic philosophy for quickly prototyping software according to the requirements already introduced in the blog, and reaching an agreement through repeated trial and error. Four basic concepts were born as the basic concepts of RiMM.
The construction of the RiMM philosophy began in 2013, gradually changing from the bottom left to the bottom right in the figure. The bottom right is the RiMM logo that was finally trademarked. RiMM is a brand for safety and security that was created to support crisis management. The rainbow colored circle shows the definition of safety and security. Please refer to the safety blog (part 2) for details. The second logo on the bottom left shows the philosophy of developing new crisis management methods and means using the cyclone philosophy. The first means of supporting safety had been developed as of 2013, but this is the first logo proposal that shows the intention to continue developing safety methods. The second logo on the bottom right is the prototype design of the current logo. This logo proposal was created in 2014, but this is the first time it has been made public. This is the first concept that aims to realize a system that evaluates emotions during the experience and feeds them back into the experience, as introduced in Episode 401, “A system to prevent disorders in VR disaster experiences.” A patent for emotional feedback was obtained in 2016. The logo for RiMM products was trademarked in 2019. Through these processes, the RiMM brand concept has been formed. We will continue to introduce RiMM philosophy in our Safety Blog, Peace of Mind Blog, Creativity Blog, and Educational Blog, so we hope you will continue to read them.
